In 2024, one sample of orange slime collected in the Belubula River was analysed for PFAS. Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS, 4.3 µg/kg) was detected in the sample. The EPA has tested extensively for PFAS in the Belubula catchment in 2024 and 2025.
